It also builds vulnerability by helping people recognize the negative unintended consequences of their well-intentioned actions on both others and themselves.
Understanding these consequences enables people to appreciate the extent of their interdependence while simultaneously making their individual accountability for the current situation more transparent. By surfacing the deeper nature of both their connectedness and individual impacts, system thinking increases the likelihood that people’s actions will in fact be mutually supportive.
